Scope

This policy covers the Service website and app, including news, disaster and transport information, location-based filtering, push notifications, advertising, and the in-app purchase that removes ads. When you leave for an official or third-party site, that party’s privacy policy applies.

Information we collect

We may obtain the following in providing the Service. We generally do not require you to submit membership details such as name, postal address, or phone number to us. [Web] • Usage data (pages viewed, referrer, device/browser type, language, approximate region) • Identifiers and logs via cookies and similar technologies • Browser location (if you allow it), used to estimate your prefecture for local news/transport display. We do not intend to keep raw coordinates on our servers on an ongoing basis. [App] • Location (when permitted): used to estimate your prefecture for regional disaster/transport alert topics and in-WebView local content. The app may store a prefecture code on device; continuous tracking is not the purpose. • Push-related data: device push tokens handled via Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for notifications. • Advertising identifiers: AdMob and similar may process advertising IDs and related device/ad data. • In-app purchase data: for the ad-free product, Apple/Google process payment and purchase status. The app stores an ad-free flag on device; we do not operate ongoing server-side receipt storage. • WebView use: the app loads livein-japan.jp, so web cookies/analytics/ads may apply; a user-agent may identify the app. • On-device settings: language, regional alerts on/off, prefecture code, ad-free status. If you email us, we obtain the message content and contact details for response.

Purposes of use

We use information to: • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service (content, regional filtering, multilingual display) • Send disaster, transport, and notice push notifications • Deliver ads and provide the ad-free feature • Understand usage, prevent abuse, handle incidents, and secure the Service • Respond to inquiries • Comply with law

Third-party services

We use external services such as: • Google Analytics (web usage analysis) • Google AdSense (web ads) • Google AdMob (app ads) • Firebase / Google (push notifications) • Apple App Store / Google Play (IAP payment processing) • Hosting and delivery infrastructure Those providers handle data under their own policies. Except as required by law or as needed for entrusted processing to deliver the Service, we do not sell your personal information to third parties without your consent.

Cookies and similar technologies

On the web, we may use cookies and similar technologies for convenience, analytics, and advertising. You can disable cookies in your browser, but some features may stop working. For ad-related opt-outs, follow the procedures offered by each provider.

Retention

We retain information for as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law, then delete or anonymize it by reasonable means. On-device settings may be removed by uninstalling the app, resetting the device, or changing settings. Retention of logs/identifiers on third-party systems follows those providers’ policies.

Your rights / requests

Under applicable law, you may request disclosure, correction, or suspension of use of personal information we hold. Contact us below; we will verify identity and respond within the law. You may also change or disable location, notifications, and advertising identifiers in OS or app settings where available.

Children’s privacy

The Service is general living information and is not directed primarily at children under 16. Parents/guardians should supervise use. If we learn we have collected children’s information inappropriately, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy for legal or Service changes. Material changes will be announced appropriately on the Service. The revised policy takes effect when posted on this page.
