Saga Prefecture Offers Portable Power Supplies for Medical Care Children’s Families to Prepare for Disasters

Saga Prefecture has started a program to lend portable power supplies to families with children requiring medical care who live at home in the prefecture. The goal is to help secure power in case of a disaster, before any emergency happens.

This program is for those living in Saga who need power to support life-sustaining medical equipment during disasters and do not yet have a portable power supply but plan to buy one. It also covers those who used to be children with medical care needs and are now over 18 but still waiting for appropriate disability support.

To use this service, families must apply through the Saga Medical Care Children Support Center website at least seven days before they want to start using the power supply. The center will check the application and then contact applicants about permission and pickup times. The lending period is up to three months and is free of charge.
