This article explains the types of re-entry permission required when temporarily leaving Japan, as well as the procedures for applying for refugee status. There are two types of re-entry permission depending on how long you will be outside Japan. Those who need protection as a refugee can also submit an application for review.
Re-entry Permission If you leave Japan and wish to enter again, you will need re-entry permission. - **Deemed Re-entry Permission**: This applies if you plan to return within 1 year. - **Re-entry Permission**: You must obtain this if you will be outside Japan for more than 1 year.
Refugee Recognition Procedures If you need protection as a refugee, you can apply for refugee recognition. If your application is accepted, a review will be conducted.
