Medical Care Available Without Insurance Card After Typhoon 24 and Heavy Rain Disaster
The Japan Health Insurance Association announced new measures for those affected by Typhoon No. 24 and related heavy rain in Aichi and Kagoshima prefectures in 2026. If you lost your My Number Health Insurance Card or qualification confirmation due to the disaster, or evacuated without carrying it, you can still get medical treatment by telling the medical facility your name, birth date, contact information, and employer's name. This applies in municipalities where the Disaster Relief Act is in effect. Foreign residents in Japan are included, so even without an insurance card, you can receive medical care. No additional documents are needed. Check the Cabinet Office's official website for the exact municipalities covered and updated information.
