Overview of the amendments to withholding income tax effective April 2026
Starting April 2026, the tax system has been amended to increase the basic deduction based on income levels. Additionally, the minimum guarantee for salary income deduction will also be raised. These changes will affect all foreigners receiving income in Japan. Procedurally, there will be no changes to withholding operations until November 2026.
