Symposium on Hansen’s Disease Human Rights to Be Held
On July 25, 2026, from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm, the Ministry of Justice will hold a symposium titled “Learning Together, Changing the Future: Hansen’s Disease Human Rights Symposium” at Shinmachi Cube in Aomori City. The event will include talks by people affected by Hansen’s disease and related experts to share knowledge and personal experiences. The goal is to understand that prejudice and discrimination can still happen today and to think together about creating a society without such issues. The symposium will be held both in-person and via YouTube live streaming. Onsite participation requires prior registration, but watching the live stream is free and open to everyone without registering. Foreign residents living in Japan are welcome to join. The event’s recordings will be available online for about one year after the symposium. For details and registration, please check the official Ministry of Justice website.
