New Support Information for Addiction in Oita Prefecture

Oita Prefecture offers consultation and support programs for addiction through its Mental Health and Welfare Center. Services include phone and in-person counseling, as well as family support. Foreign residents can use these services.

Oita Prefecture is providing enhanced support for addictions such as alcohol, gambling, drugs, and internet gaming. The Oita Mental Health and Welfare Center offers consultations for affected individuals, their families, and supporters. Consultations are available by phone at 097-541-6290 and by appointment for in-person sessions, which are free and for high school students and above. There are individual programs for gambling addiction. Family support includes monthly gatherings and educational sessions led by medical and legal professionals, also requiring prior booking. All consultations are confidential and will not be reported to the police. Foreign residents living in Oita can use these services.
