Koga General Hospital has withdrawn its certification as a Regional Perinatal Medical Center. Miyazaki Prefecture will hold an information meeting to explain the reasons and future medical services. Foreign residents in Japan should be aware of potential impacts on maternal and child healthcare.

Miyazaki Prefecture announced that Koga General Hospital has declined its certification as a Regional Perinatal Medical Center. To share information about the reasons and future medical care arrangements, an information meeting will be held on September 30, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Miyazaki Prefectural Government’s Disaster Prevention Building, Room B051, 5th floor. The meeting can be attended in person or online.

This change may affect medical services related to pregnancy and childbirth, so foreign residents in Japan are advised to pay attention.

The meeting will cover the background of the withdrawal and future treatment policies. The Q&A session will not be open to the public. Only 10 people can attend on-site as observers. Registration starts at 5:30 pm on the day, on a first-come, first-served basis.
