Aichi Prefecture Announces Designated Disasters for Volunteer Support

Aichi Prefecture recently designated Typhoon No. 25 of the year 2026 (Reiwa 8) as a disaster eligible for its disaster volunteer activity assistance program. The program provides subsidies to cover part of expenses such as transportation and accommodation costs for volunteers working in affected areas. The disaster must be officially recognized under the Disaster Relief Act, and volunteer centers must be established in the municipalities accepting volunteers. As of September 25, 2026, the designated municipalities include Ichihara City and Oamishirasato City in Chiba Prefecture. Foreign residents living in Japan may be eligible to receive support if they form a group based in Aichi Prefecture that meets certain conditions, including having at least five members and a representative aged 18 or older.
