Pre-entry Tuberculosis Screening Required

August 4, 2026
People from the Philippines, Nepal, and Vietnam need tuberculosis screening before entering Japan.
Japan has introduced a new requirement for those from the Philippines, Nepal, and Vietnam planning to stay long-term. This requires tuberculosis screening before entry. In the Philippines and Nepal, this begins on June 23, 2025, and in Vietnam on September 1, 2025. You need to undergo a health check at a designated medical institution to obtain a 'Certificate of Non-Tuberculosis'. Please check the official Immigration Services Agency page for detailed information.
