Yamaguchi Prefecture Invites Applications for New 3R+ Certified Products and Offices
From October 1 to October 30, 2026, Yamaguchi Prefecture will hold a new certification program called 3R+ to promote a recycling-oriented society. This program expands the traditional 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) by including the use of renewable resources. Eligible products must be made or processed within Yamaguchi, meet safety standards, and use recycled or renewable resources. Eligible business offices are those that actively work to reduce industrial waste or improve recycling.
For foreigners living in Japan, this certification can be relevant if you work in industries linked to environment or manufacturing. Certified products can display an official mark and appear in prefectural publications and public projects. Certified offices may simplify paperwork for accepting industrial waste from other areas and gain points in prefectural bidding systems.
Applications open from October 1 to 30, 2026. After applying, offices will undergo site inspections and reviews, with final certifications announced in March. Please check Yamaguchi Prefecture’s official website for application details and required documents. Contact the Waste and Recycling Department of Yamaguchi Prefecture for any questions.
