Yamaguchi Prefecture Starts Support for University Entrance Exam Fees

September 3, 2026
Starting September 2026, Yamaguchi Prefecture offers financial help for university exam fees to children from single-parent and low-income families. Applications can be made online.

Yamaguchi Prefecture has begun accepting applications from September 7, 2026, for a subsidy program that helps cover university, junior college, vocational school, and four-year technical college entrance exam fees. The support targets guardians living in Yamaguchi Prefecture who raise children under 20 years old from single-parent households receiving child-rearing allowances or low-income households exempt from resident tax. The subsidy covers exam fees up to 53,000 yen per child for exams taken and fees paid between April 1, 2026, and March 12, 2027, excluding transfer or bank fees. Applications can be submitted online via the Yamaguchi Prefecture exam support office website, with telephone consultations available from September 7. This subsidy works alongside other support programs from the Ministry of Education, offering continuous aid from before university entrance through graduation. Please check the official Yamaguchi Prefecture announcement for full details and application instructions.
