Notice on Drone Incident and Application Issues at Nagoya City Hall

At about 8:50 pm on September 17, 2026, a drone used for the “Aichi-Nagoya Art & Lights” publicity filming touched the wall of the Nagoya City Hall West Building and fell. There were no injuries or building damage. The contractor, JR Tokai Agency Inc., had submitted flight applications to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for September 14 and 15, but did not complete the procedure for the changed filming date on September 17. Safety management on the day was also inadequate. This incident may affect residents living in Nagoya, including foreign residents in Japan. The organizing committee will ensure contractors follow legal procedures and implement safety measures. Also, no drone filming is planned in the future.
