Gunma Prefectural Museum of Modern Art to Reopen on September 19
The Gunma Prefectural Museum of Modern Art has been closed since December 2025 for renovation. It will reopen on Saturday, September 19, 2026. During the renovation, all the lighting inside the museum was replaced with LED lights. The visitor restrooms were also renovated, with new facilities such as wheelchair-accessible stalls, baby beds, and all-gender toilets.
These improvements help make the museum more comfortable and accessible for everyone, including foreign residents living in Japan. The current exhibition will run from September 19 to November 8. The museum is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with the last entry at 4:30 p.m. The museum is usually closed on Mondays, but will be open on September 21 and October 12. Instead, it will be closed on September 24 and October 13.
On September 19, the first 100 visitors will receive an original postcard and badge set to celebrate the reopening.
Please check the museum’s official website for the latest visitor information and details.
