Gifu Prefecture Calls for Companies to Join Satellite Data Talent Program with High School Students

September 24, 2026
Gifu Prefecture, together with Gifu University, has launched a program to train people using satellite data, inviting companies to participate and work with high school students to solve local issues.

Gifu Prefecture aims to develop the space industry by starting a new program to nurture talent skilled in using satellite data. In collaboration with Gifu University, young engineers from local companies will team up with high school students to tackle regional challenges such as disaster prevention, forestry, agriculture, and tourism. The program runs from October 10, 2026, to January 23, 2027, with four sessions. Participating companies are asked to provide about 10 young employees to join the program; 10 high school students will also participate. There is no participation fee. The application deadline is October 4, 2026. For foreign residents in Japan, this program offers a chance to connect with local communities and experience technological collaboration in the region. Companies interested can apply via the Gifu University online form and must join the GIFU Space Business Council (free). More details are available on the official Gifu Prefecture website.
